Come spend an evening with the leaders of the trade union movement in Haiti and Guadeloupe: Elle Domota: General Secretary, General Union of Workers of Guadeloupe Fignole Saint Cyr: General Secretary, Autonomous Confederation of Haitian Workers

In Haiti, the unions are playing a major role in the struggle to restore democracy after the US government's removal of democratically elected President Arilstide and the continuing occupation of the country by UN troops.

Yes We Can! Earlier this year, the trade unions of the Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe led a powerful fight back against the deepening worldwide economic crisis. United in a coalition of 50 organizations, the workers and people of Guadeloupe won a $250/month wage increase for low wage workers, more jobs for youth, a reduction in the prices of basic necessities and a moratorium on home foreclosures. Come find out more about this great victory as we learn to fight back against massive loss of jobs, healthcare, pensions and homes here in the USA.

July 9 noon Health care rally at Sen. Hagen's office

What:Public Option Now rally Where:Sen.Kay Hagan's Greensboro office (701 Green Valley Rd.) When: Thursday, July 9th at noon
Sponsor: Moveon.org For more info: Mike Taylor,336-317-3252

The purpose of the rally is to show broad public support for including a strong public health care option in the upcoming health care reform legislation. This is one of many simultaneous rallies Moveon.org is organizing at Congressional offices across the country. Our rally is particularly important because Sen. Hagan lives in Greensboro and, at least so far, she seems to be working to block or water down a strong public health care option. We need to persuade her that good health care for ordinary folks is more important than the profits of giant corporations. Please stop by on your lunch hour to show your support for a strong public health care option.

To contact Sen. Hagen directly: www.hagan.senate.gov Her Washington office can be called toll-free at 1-888-436-8427. This is the Congressional switchboard. Ask for Hagan's office. Greensboro office number is 336-333-5311, and fax number is 336-333-5331.
