The PJN needs your input!

On Friday, October 31, you will be receiving an electronic survey from the PJN. The purpose of this survey is to assess our current programs, web site and email communications, and we need your help to plan future programs. Please complete and submit the survey by midnight, Sunday, November 9.

Since we are a small community, your participation in this process is vital. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Plus, you can enter to win a $25 gift certificate for Deep Roots market! We will schedule a follow up community meeting to review the survey results. More info on this process will be discussed during the November 16 Potluck Dinner.

We appreciate your participation as we work to continuously improve the PJN, providing programs and communications that support you and your organization's goal of building a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

Special Announcement: Annual PJN Potluck on Nov 16

*Envisioning a World of Peace and Justice *Building Stronger Community Alliances

Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St.

Dear Friends: You are invited to attend our annual PJN Community Potluck Dinner on November 16.

Please join us for this special evening of food, music and engaging conversation. Our special guest speaker, Cheryl Bridges of Guilford College, will make a presentation on Envisioning a World of Peace and Justice. Will Ridenour and Betsy Bevan will perform music from their new CD, “Wind and Stars.”

During the event, you will be able to network with other individuals who are working to make a positive difference in our community. Organizations also are invited to exhibit displays and provide informational materials on issues of interest that can lead to greater personal involvement.

As noted, guests should bring a covered dish to share with others if possible. Drinks and eating utensils will be provided.

The opportunity to exhibit is open to all organizations working toward peace, justice and sustainability. If your group is interested in display space (a full or half table), please RSVP to pjn@triad.rr.com by Friday, November 7. Groups also are invited to become sponsors of the Potluck with a minimum contribution of $25. Each sponsor’s name will be listed in the program.

The PJN Potluck Dinner has become a Greensboro tradition, drawing together individuals and organizations working toward building a more peaceful and just community and world. Each year, it serves to reaffirm the common bond we share in our commitment to imagining and creating a better world. We hope you can join us for this special event.

Economic and racial inequality are not abstract concepts but hospitalize and kill even more people than cigarettes. The wages and benefits we're paid, the neighborhoods we live in, the schools we attend, our access to resources and even our tax policies are health issues every bit as critical as diet, smoking and exercise.

The unequal distribution of these social conditions - and their health consequences - are not natural or inevitable. All are welcome! A discussion will be held afterwards featuring Dr. Pubantz from the UNCG political science department. Dr. Pubantz teaching and research specialties include globalization, international politics, and American foreign policy. Description: Mr. Anderson will describe, and discuss the differences among, four types of insulation: fiberglass, cellulose, open-cell foam, and closed-cell foam. He will compare the pros and cons of each type and rate their effectiveness. He will also talk about the effectiveness and importance of the installation process and its impact on energy usage and costs. "You can choose one of the foam insulations at a relatively high cost, but if it isn't installed properly the effect can be hindered".
