PURPOSE: To place in historical context the events of 1969 and to draw out the legacy and lessons of this Greensboro community struggle for equality, democracy, and social and economic justice. The activities, which will include a variety of lectures, workshops, films, and performances, will integrate the use of research, oral history, artifact displays, and artistic renderings drawn from the academic community and the larger Greensboro community. Students, alumni, community leaders, youth, historians, and elected officials will participate. The activities will be videotaped and archived for future informational, training, and promotional purposes. The two-day program, which will be open and free to the public, will showcase individuals who were participants and eyewitnesses to the events of the 1969 Dudley-A&T Uprising.
