City Council Requests Public Output on New Police Chief

GREENSBORO, NC - Greensboro City Council wants to know what the public thinks the City should look for in the next police chief and what they desire from the Greensboro Police Department.

The public is invited to attend any of the following meetings:

November 13 Central Library, Sternberger Room, 219 North Church Street 12 noon-2 p.m.
November 13 Lindley Recreation Center, 2907 Springwood Drive 6-7 p.m.
November 14 Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion/Barber Park, 1500 Dan's Road 6-7 p.m.
November 16 Peeler Recreation Center, 1300 Sykes Avenue 6-7 p.m.
November 20 District 3 Police Station, 300 South Swing Road 6-7 p.m.
November 29 Lewis Recreation Center, 3110 Forest Lawn Drive 6-7 p.m.

Greensboro residents can also email their comments on the City's website at www.greensboro-nc.gov or call 373-2489 to tell their suggestions to a Customer Service Representative. All information given will be used to help develop the criteria for the selection process. Come see the evidence about the Gil Barber Case FOR YOURSELF - since the case was denied a hearing in court. On May 18th, 2001 Deputy Thomas Gordy shot and killed the unarmed Gilbert Barber, age 22. What actually happened that night is still in the shade -- this show will bring it out in to the light. Through evidence, artwork and performance, we will explore our own experiences living in a society that permits rampant police brutality.
